While oak character varies greatly from species to species, grain tightness within a species also has important effects on the concentration of aromatics and tannins.

• All of our barrels are considered tight grain using cooperage industry standards.
• However, our Petraea barrels are produced only from carefully hand-selected extra tight grain Quercus Petraea and provide superb complexity. Petraea allows less oxygen transfer through the stave these barrels are recommended for longer aging programs.
