Adjacent to the forest, stream and pond

Seasoning is one of the most crucial phases of barrel making. Kádár Hungary seasons staves for a minimum of 24 months in our open-air seasoning yard. The stave yard is located in Erdőbénye in the heart of the Tokaj forest region with an ideal environment for the natural seasoning. The yard sits adjacent to the forest along a year-round stream and pond. This setting provides an ideal microclimate to promote the enzymatic activity of microbiological populations of fungi and bacteria that are critical for the transformation of wood compounds. During the seasoning period, wood stacks are rotated and managed to maintain these microbiological processes and consistency from stack to stack.
